Fitness Coaching

If you make the same resolution each year to exercise more and eat healthier, but can’t seem to make it happen, I can help.

I offer a variety of coaching opportunities to help you create lasting change. My goal is that changes you make during your coaching experience remain a part of your life when you turn 90.

My philosophy and coaching programs are created with 3 primary principals in mind.

  1. The changes you make need to support and reflect your overall values in life.  Essentially, they need to help you get more of what you want, whether that’s quality time with family, freedom, relaxation or just more joy.
  2. Speaking of joy – it’s got to be a big part of the equation (in the short & the long term)!  You’ll still get to eat foods you love and you won’t be forced to will yourself to exercise in a way that doesn’t feel good.
  3. You need to change the way you think about health.  Good health doesn’t have to mean giving up all the foods you love and being miserable and sweating at the gym.

When you coach with me, you’ll get full on-demand access to me.  That means if you run into a road block, a crisis or want to celebrate a win, I’m just a phone call a way.

Ready to get started? I offer three unique private coaching experiences.

Up & Running

One month of private coaching designed to get you up and running towards your goals (no willpower required)!

During this month-long coaching experience, we’ll cover:

  • How to get really clear on what you want & why you want it. Clarity helps the mind spring into action without struggle.  The more clear you are, the easier it is for the mind to start moving the body in the right direction.
  • What drives motivation and how to create it in almost any situation.  Hint: it has nothing to do with fear or facts, which is why even when your Dr. tells you to lose weight & work out, it doesn’t necessarily happen.
  • Identification of Personal Motivation & Core Values.  You’ll earn what drives you and how to leverage that to reach your goals.
  • Identification of Your Personal Barriers: You’ll get insights into what’s holding you back and tools to tackle those barriers from a place of peace.
  • Why deprivation & willpower diets don’t usually work & how you can eat what you want, exercise for fun & still lose weight.
  • Shortcuts to Success: You’ll learn tools you can apply to help you reach success in any goal

You’ll leave with:

  • A clear idea of how to create lasting change without using willpower.
  • Exercises designed to help you practice, integrate & apply what you learn in specific areas of your life (fitness, weight loss, relationships & happiness).
  • A custom designed motivation roadmap created for  just for you.
  • A new awareness about your how personal beliefs & past experiences can make it difficult to create change & tools to help you reframe those beliefs.
  • A clear sense of how to stop beating yourself up so you can have fun throughout the process of reaching your goals.
  • Ongoing support throughout the entire coaching experience – and after!

Program Format:

  • 1 private coaching session per week: Once a week we’ll talk live via phone or skype for 45-60 minutes. These coaching sessions are designed to provide deep insights into what’s holding you back and what inspires you.  They are the basis for creating your custom designed homework.
  • Weekly homework: Not to worry – you won’t be graded!  Homework is an opportunity for you to practice & apply what you learn during our live sessions so you’re not just learning theory – you’re learning how to implement. Plus it’s an opportunity to go deeper and create more learning.
  • Daily Email Coaching (Mon-Fri):  Have questions that come up during the week?  Run into a setback?  Have a big win? Support is just an email away!
  • On-Demand Cell Phone Access: When you coach with me, you get access to my private cell-phone.  That’s right – if something comes up during our month of coaching, you’ll be able to chat with me live on-the spot.  You’ll simply send me a text and I’ll let you know when I can chat live within 24 hours.  I’ll literally be a phone-call away during your entire coaching experience.
  • Full access to InspiredRunning (via a 6 month, complimentary membership): I’m a big believer in long-term support.  That’s why, your coaching package includes 6 months of ongoing support via the InspiredRunning community. Among the many benefits of membership at Inspired Running, you’ll have access to behind the scenes coaching reveals, the opportunity to participate in coaching calls with myself and other leading coaches and a community to motivate & encourage you every step of the way.

*Within 24 hours of enrolling, you’ll receive an email outlying everything you need to do to get started.  Any questions? Email christy.lambert@areyouthriving.com

Why I developed the Fit for Life program:

I have A LOT of experience with running.

I spent my entire early adulthood running as fast as I could to build the life I thought would make me happy.

I crossed every finish line with flying colors. Great career: Check. Nice husband: Check. Beautiful home: Check. I even managed to throw in some actual running races, starting with 5Ks and working my way up to a marathon.

Then I turned 30 and took a moment to check my times. On paper, it all looked good. But I wasn’t happy. I realized I’d spent my whole life running away.

Running away from my marriage, running away from my growing discontent with my career, running away from any feelings that might cause me to face myself head on.

All that running left me numb. Tired. Disappointed there wasn’t more. With no clear direction on where to run next.

So I set out to find my way. To start a race toward authentic happiness. Real joy. Maybe even love. It was (and still is) the biggest race I could ever run.

I started, naturally, on the race course. I signed up to run Bloomsday. It’s one of the largest road races in North America and in my hometown. Going home felt like the perfect way to start. And it was. Just not in the way I expected.

During that run, I experienced my first-ever running injury. And just like I’d done so many times before, I tried to power through. I ignored the pain that started with two miles to go and just kept running.

As the pain intensified, so did my effort. I was scared to stop. Scared I wouldn’t start again. So the next day, I ran. The day after that, I ran again. By day four, I could barely stand or walk without wincing.

When I finally saw the doctor, the only thing I cared about was how long it would be until I could run again.

It turned out to be much longer than I could have ever guessed. For nearly a year, I went to physical therapy, orthopedists, chiropractors. I stretched, had steroid injections, did targeted exercises, and even rested.

Frustrated, I started looking for other answers.

I learned about the powerful mind-body connection. I learned that when I don’t listen to my inner voice, my inner wisdom gets so loud I have no choice but to hear it.

I learned there was a better way to live my life.

I learned what it felt like to run toward myself. Toward my dreams, my hopes, and my desires. I learned to know what they were, and then not only to know but to honor them.

I learned to love myself and then my husband. And then I started running again. Running toward a life filled with love, joy, and hope.

It wasn’t the running that caused the pain. It was using running to avoid emotion and connection that broke me.

Now I use what I’ve learned to shine. In running and in life. To push myself. It’s what I call Inspired Living.
